James Taylor joined InSync in 2022 to focus on innovation and growth of the company products and services from its backbone of broadcast standards conversion technologies and capabilities. James has a 20+ year commercial experience of building and growing global companies in broadcast, telecom and other technologies. He brings experience of global transmission services for broadcasters and major events that demand the highest service and quality solution delivery. James has an MBA and a degree in International Business.

James Shepherd has been Chief Technology Officer of InSync Technology since 2015. He is responsible for the overall technical direction of the company. His career has focused on motion estimation techniques applied to video processing applications such as standards conversion, de-interlacing, image stabilisation and content identification. James has directed the complete development process from specification and architecture through implementation and release of numerous products – based on HDL for FPGA, custom DSP ASICs, embedded software and pure software applications. In the course of product development he has researched novel algorithms such as non-linear filtering techniques, state of the art film-cadence detection, repair, conversion – and holds a number of patents in these areas. James studied Engineering Science at the University of Oxford and previously worked for Snell as Principal Design Engineer.

Lee’s design experience spans both the video and audio disciplines but his formidable experience of all aspects of analog, AES and Dolby E audio is an invaluable resource adding significantly to InSync’s ability to undertake feature rich product commissions. Lee has implemented many hardware and high speed digital designs including their embedded software drivers. Lee previously worked at Snell & Wilcox as a Senior Engineer and at De La Rue where he was a test and commissioning engineer for cash sorting machines.

Garry has previously provided technical services and field support roles for a number of broadcast companies including Pro-Bel and Sony BPE before joining InSync in July 2010. He has also worked as a product validation engineer for Silicon Image and has prior experience in content distribution and digital cinema.

Brendon holds a BSc (Hons) from Southampton Solent University in Computer Games Development and graduated in the top ten percentile of students on his course. He is well-versed in C++ and Java and posesses a comprehensive knowledge of industry approved development methodologies, from which he developed a fully-featured Chip-8 emulator in a professional environment.

Principal Firmware Engineer / Employee Director
Adrian is Principal Firmware Engineer at InSync Technology and is InSync’s Employee Director.  Adrian has expertise in developing hardware, firmware and ICs for broadcast products including video compression and standards converters.  Prior to joining InSync, Adrian spent many years in the broadcast industry including with Ericsson, Tandberg Television and NDS.

Tim has designed hardware for video, microprocessor and PC interfaces. He has extensive experience of hardware design and firmware implementation using VHDL. His expertise includes video keyers, fibre optic interfaces, 1GHz Power PC, Gigabit Ethernet and dual SCSI controllers. He enjoys being involved with the whole product lifecycle from conception through to production. Tim previously worked at Aston Broadcast and Snell & Wilcox. He graduated with a 2:1 MEng in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from the University of Sheffield in 1998.

Dan is a skilled and experienced design engineer who has worked in the broadcast field from the outset of his career. He has been involved in all aspects of product design from initial specification and algorithm research to hardware design, FPGA and embedded software implementation through to successful production release. Dan has previously worked for Harmonic Inc / Broadcast Technology Ltd, where he was responsible for the design of the range of MPEG video and audio decoder modules, and at Snell & Wilcox, where he primarily designed products for the modular range. Dan has recently been appointed as Employee Trustee.

Employee Ownership

InSync Technology has been an Employee Owned Business since October 2013. Like many other successful employee owned businesses, staff and management are actively participating in investment in the long-term shared success of the company. The employees’ interests are managed by an Employee Benefit Trust which is the majority owner, holding a controlling share of the business.
